What is sub floor ventilation?
Does your house have a musty smell? Do you have a problem with rising damp?
That is where our underfloor home ventilation is the solution to these issues. Subfloor ventilation systems create an outlet for stagnant air to circulate allowing it to escape instead of seeping into your home. Without the appropriate system in place it will become fetid leading to ideal conditions for the growth of mould, damp and wood rot.
On average, Melbourne’s air sits at 56% relative humidity; this creates a moist environment under our homes leading to subfloor moister issues (Our ventilation system create up to 24 air changes per day keeping flooring timbers at 14% moisture.
This is enough to:
- Dry and settle damp swollen floor boards
- Reduce/eliminate condensation
- Prevent rot and mould growth
- Stop irritating airborne allergens
- Prevent bad smells throughout your home
We have developed three basic ways of drying damp subfloors:
FAN UNDER FLOOR
The SILENT SAHARA SUBFLOOR FAN and ducting system.
150mm size air flow 550 cubic meters per hour
200mm size air flow 1020 cubic meters per hour
Most customers cannot determine whether or not their Silent Sahara Fan is operating unless they go outside to the exhaust grille. Quiet and powerful, a Silent Sahara Subfloor desert can be created under your home. Designed for long duct (pipe) runs that exhaust damp air from areas that other underfloor ventilation fans cannot reach.
WALL MOUNTED FAN
Best for brick veneer subfloors, ideally with four or more bricks below floor level.
EDMONDS ECOFAN provides air flow of up to 730 cubic meters per hour. Locked House Ventilation Systems helped develop the original Ecofan 17 years ago and now the new model has everything you’ll need in this type of fan. The new fan has 24 volts, 30watts, 3 speeds and low noise levels. A second Ecofan can be reversed to supply air on the opposite wall
• Option for long ducting systems fitted to reach damp areas
• Air flow is 734 cubic meters per hour
• 240 volts
AIR INTO SUBFLOOR
Fresh drying air entering the subfloor at the necessary places, in the required volume, is insufficient in damp houses. Special reverse louver brick replacement grilles capture 90% of passing wind air currents.
As part of our subfloor ventilation services, we also install a range of grilles including Edwardian and Victorian.
An electrical 24 hour timer automatically controls the drying sessions, and can be reduced or increased seasonally.
We use an A grade quality electrician to do all electrical installations.
